The Fig Tree That Found It’s Magic
About three years ago I planted a Brown Turkey Fig Tree in my garden, and I've loved watching it change with the seasons — sparse and bare in winter, lush and full in spring.
The one problem? The squirrels always get to the figs before I do. Every. Single. Time.
So I decided to give my fig tree a different kind of purpose.
I am painstakingly wrapping solar fairy lights around every single branch, one by one. Six packs of lights and a lot of patience later — it is stunning. They're bright, they glow until early dawn, and they add the most magical, whimsical quality to the garden that I just can't get enough of.
The best part? The tree sits right in front of my living room window, so even when I'm curled up inside, I get to enjoy it. A little bit of garden magic, all night long.
Sometimes the things that take the longest are the most worth it.
